inspiration: moulin rouge!

Moulin Rouge! is one of my all-time favorite films, because not only does it have a good story and compelling characters, it's visually stunning. A photoshoot inspired by this film is on my list of things to do (look for it this summer?), and I can watch it over and over to fall in love all over again with color. Also: Luhrmann's use of light is spectacular. I've given you a few screen caps below, but they're really only from two of my favorite musical numbers. If I screen capped the whole thing this post would be pages and pages long.

Anyway, here are a few ways you can let Moulin Rouge! inspire you.

wear lots of colors.

Add a tailcoat to your wardrobe.

Love the size you are.

Embrace garter belts.

Wings make any outfit better.

top hats make people happy.

be pale. wear red lipstick.

paint your bedroom red. add ridiculous amounts of pillows to your bed.

go on picnics.

type. write. create.

learn to tango.

tweed is lovely.

wear veils.

And a few more:
  • sparkle is nothing to be ashamed of.
  • red hair is glorious.
  • elephants are fabulous.
  • beware midgets with sandbags
  • red and pink is a good color combination.
  • the greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.
