headpiece frenzy

So my youngest (!) sister is getting married, and we're 99.9% sure it will be New Years Eve. Yes, that's this year. Needless to say, a frenzy of weddingness has ensued. Perhaps surprisingly, I don't hate wedding preparations. In fact, I'm loving talking about all sorts of details with her.

So one of her things is that we bridesmaids aren't going to carry flowers. Instead, we will wear amazing headpieces. Peacock feathers are the unifying motif here, and I think we're making the headpieces, so I went for inspiration to Etsy. Now I'm madly in love, and want to buy a few of these to wear everyday.

which is your youngest sister? isn't that sarah? why don't i know anything about this? and what, NO FLOWERS? you're killing me. hats are great, but what they hell are the bridesmaids supposed to do with their hands during the ceremony? look just as awkward as the groomsmen? hmmmmmmm. ;)

I think Lauryl's offering free flowers. ;)

I want to be invited.

What?!?! Sarah is getting MARRIED? Only you girls could pull off the no flowers thing...although I have to agree with the PP, what will you do with your hands?

The one and only time in my life I can say I envy a bridesmaid!

my wedding is the revenge of all the weddings i've had to be in that i hated. and/or traditions that do little for me.

no bridesmaids flowers. no bridesmaids processional. no cake. no garter. no bouquet toss. no boring traditional music. no long ceremony. no matchy-matchy colors.

what will there be?

lots of dancing, champagne, glamorous dresses and sheer fabulousness.

that's how we roll. =D

(seriously? laura is the most amazing godsend in planning this wedding. if it weren't for her, i'd probably have all the aforementioned things--and worse.)

Randomly I stumbled across your blog through a google search and omg I'm so glad I did! I love your style and these hats!
this is the most brilliant idea EVER!
I LOVE it and the headpieces you have here. I cannot WAIT to see pictures from this :)

I think the groomsmen should walk w/ bouquets or nosegays... that would be hilarious and/or completely bizzaro.
(not necessarily in your sister's wedding) It would make for some great pictures!
I also love your style. The headpieces are such a great idea. They remind me of how much more glamourous women were many decades ago. Definitely cutting edge. Thanks for sharing all of your stylish ideas and inspiration. Also, thanks for stopping by my lonely little blog and leaving me a comment.
