attempt at the gold eyeshadow

So after I linked to the gold eyeshadow trend, I picked up a pot of Goldmine from the MAC counter. I want to try their Gorgeous Gold, but they didn't have any instore. Anyway, this is my attempt to wear it yesterday. I went a little strong on the eyeliner, so I just paired it with a pale pink lip instead of trying the red that was worn on the runways. Not sure I've perfected this yet; I think next time I'll try it with a smudgy brown liner under the shadow, and maybe then the red lip will work. Opinions?

I like the gold. Do not like the pink lips. I think clear gloss would be better than the pink, personally. And yes, I like the idea of smudgy brown better than the black; it will better allow the gold to have center stage.

i agree with joy, brown probably over the black. the gold looks really good on you though. i tried it on myself and was less than pleased. i think my hair has gotten to goldish from the summer sun, so gold eyes and gold hair made my porcelain skin look way too washed out. it works on you though with your darker hair. nice drama. and i totally think you could pull off a red lip. the look almost needs more color, honestly.
I think your eyes look beautiful in the gold. the brown will look good too.
one thing to remember w/ eyes & lips:
light lips make the eyes pop & total center stage of the face. dark/bright lips make the lips pop and play center stage.

I always preferred (on myself) dark eyes and light lips- made my eyes look bigger/doe-eyed.

i like the gold on you though- it's very pretty :)

Seriously, if there's one thing I need, it's another sister as wonderful as the one I have. I'd celebrate with Mimosas and pancakes.

Woops. That comment should have been to the post above. Sorry.

I agree that I think it would work with the brown as well. Regardless, you're still working it.

I have a gold eyeshadow from Bare Minerals. It's always been a near-perfect goldy (instead of yellow) as the author of that article wrote... I like. =] Looks sexy on you, Laura, but few things don't.
